The US-led war against Iran that had started in the last week of February 2026, has now completed a month and the superpower that had vowed to enforce a fast regime change has failed in its objective.

For US’ president Donald Trump, the stakes are high as America is now embroiled in yet another conflict in Middle East that doesn’t seem to end at an early stage.

That Iran, a nation battling sanctions for decades, is able to resist for a long period, was apparently unthinkable for the US’ regime.

There was no balance of power between US-Israel on one hand and Iran on the other. Apart from the military strength and superiority in all other aspects ranging from aerial power, funds and resources, the US-Israel joint

The asymmetrical warfare is a strategy that has helped Iran defend itself and remain in the battle despite the immense power, strength and resources on  the other side. action that has struck across Iran, didn’t succeed in getting their desired results.

Iran absorbed the strikes, faced the destruction and still kept fighting and used tactics that have come as a surprise to the United States. Iran kept on firing missiles on a regular basis, even if the intensity varied.

It kept on using drones and also attacked American bases across the Gulf, hitting the key installations as well.

Further, its control over Strait of Hormuz, affected supplies across the world. This hit the global economy and caused the shortage of oil and gas in countries across the world.

Iran also targeted key sites in the Gulf nations. This affected the Arab nations that had the US’ bases for a long time in their territories.

This strategy has put these countries in a strange situation. Public perception and popular opinion in the region is not in favour of US bases in the countries.

The atrocities in Gaza are fresh in collective memory of  the masses in Arab world. As Iran fights US-Israel, this puts it in a dominant position in the entire Middle East and it has also increased its clout in

in the entire Islamic world, as well as Asia and the Global South that has not been taking kindly the US’ attacks on countries like Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan in the past.

Hence, Iran is seen as a fighter against US’ hegemony and it is right now being seen as a country that has defended itself from an aggressive attack by US, at the behest of Israel.

This narrative puts Iran in a league above other nations. It was not seen as a major international power but despite the constraints, it has given a strong response to US.

The perception that Israel dragged US and the war was thrust on Iran, has damaged the prestige of US. As people take to streets against war in US’ cities, it’s time to reflect.
